Perth to Orlando

Nyfty is a US company. Our customers are general contractors across North America, our records write to Procore, and our office address is in Delaware. The two founders, though, live in Perth, Western Australia. It is a long way from anywhere, and it is a very long way from Orlando.

Getting to Groundbreak means Perth to Melbourne, Melbourne to Dallas, Dallas to Orlando. Three flights, 30 plus hours door to door once you count check-in and customs, and a 12 hour time difference we will still be arguing with on the show floor. As far as we can tell, nobody exhibiting or attending this year is coming from further away. If you are, come and find us at booth 2103 and we will buy you a coffee and concede.

I leave Perth at 6:15 on Saturday morning, 17 October, and land in Orlando at 9:26 that same Saturday night. The calendar says it took 15 hours. The body says otherwise. The expo hall opens Wednesday 21 and runs through Thursday 22. If you want to follow the trip, I will be posting from the airport and the plane on LinkedIn, the same as every year. Ollie is staying home.

Why Come That Far

The sign on our booth says it: AI Safety Agents the field will actually use. That claim is easy to type and hard to prove over a video call. A superintendent is not going to fly anywhere to see a pre-task plan agent run. A safety director is not going to sit through a screen share to find out whether a toolbox talk tool is any good. They want to stand in front of it, hand it something real, and see what it does.

Groundbreak is the one week of the year when a few thousand of those people are in the same building, and most of them already run their jobs on Procore. Every record our agents produce writes back to Procore. So this is where we need to be, and two days in a 10 by 10 booth is worth the trip from the other side of the planet.

The other reason is personal. I started out as a subcontractor in the field. The forms we are automating are forms I filled in badly, in a hurry, in the rain. Groundbreak is the one place I get to talk to the people still doing that, and hear what we got wrong.

Bring Your Worst Pre-Task Plan

Here is what we would like you to do before you walk over.

Find the worst pre-task plan or JHA on your project. The one that was clearly filled in from the truck. The one where every hazard is “pinch points” and every control is “be aware.” Take a photo of it on your phone.

Bring it to booth 2103. We will run it through the PTP Agent in front of you. You will see what it flags, what it asks the foreman to fix, and what a co-authored version looks like against the JHA for that task. It takes about five minutes and it is a lot more useful than a slide deck.

While you are there we will also show you:

A worker gets a text with a link. They tap it and finish the task in a short browser chat. No app, no login, no password reset. English, Spanish and Portuguese. That is what “the field will actually use” means in practice, and it is easier to show than to explain.

The Socks

If you have been to a Groundbreak before, you may know us for the socks and the hats rather than the software. Fair. We bring them every year and we have brought them again. Bring the pre-task plan, watch the demo, leave with a pair. The hats go to anyone who brings a PTP bad enough to make the agent pause. There is a Procore person still wearing the 2022 socks, and we respect that.

How to Find Us

Booth 2103, Level 1 of the expo hall at the Orange County Convention Center.

Walk in and head for the top of the hall, between the Foundation Stage on the left and the Elevation Stage on the right. We are in the rows of 10 by 10 booths just below the food and beverage area, north of the General Contractors zone. BiltOn is next door at 2202 and Wyre AI is behind us at 2105.

If You Want a Guaranteed Slot

Walk-ups are welcome, and most of the time there will be someone free. If you want a time held for you, book a 15 minute booth slot above. That is enough for the five minute demo and ten minutes of questions. If you want to work through how this would run across your projects, that is a longer conversation, so email hello@nyfty.ai and we will set it up in the week after the show.

If you cannot get to Orlando, the trial is open at console.nyfty.ai. No sales call required. We will send you a postcard.

See you at 2103.
