Flipping Construction site access on its head, and making it a win-win

Updated: Mar 15

Typically, with construction site access / site 'sign in' systems, the onus is on the GC to manage the system, ensuring all subs and their crews are checking in and out. This leaves busy Supers to intervene to ensure workers have swiped their badges, signed into the iPad kiosk, scanned the QR, switched on the tracking app or used the turnstiles rather than the sneaky shortcut that gets you in from the back of the car park! It can be like herding cats, but with Nyfty it's very different.

Nyfty manages itself completely. The GC doesn't have to administer any hardware and apps, so there's no hidden costs, and they certainly don't have to chase people to comply. Instead, Nyfty's Attendance Bot puts the onus on Foremen and Crew Leads to manage their own crews by giving them the tools then, importantly, chasing them to ensure it's done. Finally, the Foreman or Lead has access to their company data for their own internal reporting. It really is a win-win - the GC gets accurate data and the Subs gets their daily report ready made.

Nyfty's Attendance Bot is a beautifully simple concept. People only have to 'sign in' once by scanning a QR code or sending a text. Nyfty will then automatically text them to ask if they're coming to site each day, until they're finished on that job. It'll even manage when they are on vacation or on an RTO.

When a Foreman checks in they are sent a link, via text, to their company 'Partner Self Management Portal'. This portal shows them who, from their team, has already signed in, and who of their recent crew hasn't yet signed in (forgot / snuck in from the car park!). It lets them add any workers who doesn't have or doesn't want to use their own phone. It will even display a QR code to be scanned by any new workers who haven't onboarded yet. Attendance Bot does all of this without the use of apps or passwords, just intelligent text messages.

We're not saying there isn't a place for hardware based access systems such as turnstiles or badging / wearables. If security is the imperative then access control is needed but, for the vast majority of sites, hardware based attendance management just isn't necessary and becomes an on-going hassle for the GC to manage and maintain. There's the issuing of badges and wearables, persuading people to download tracking apps, policing the gates and more. But, on every job, there is the need for accurate Daily Log reporting, emergency evacuation management and simply registering who has been on the job site, whether that's visitors, deliveries or every worker.

So, for any job site that doesn't require hardware based access management, Nyfty is the go-to system for Procore projects (contact us to learn more about other systems coming very soon). It flips the entire paradigm on its head by putting the onus on the Foremen, who know who is onsite and who has to report their manpower anyway. Furthermore, it's powerful conversational A.I. manages itself by talking to Foremen and Crew leads (in English or Spanish) to ensure everybody is checked in, every day. It's a very tenacious and persuasive little bot!

For GCs it's a simple choice between a completely self sufficient, intelligent system like Nyfty.ai,, or systems that require ongoing management of hardware, apps, passwords and, worst of all, the 'policing' of the system.

By combining self sufficient A.I. with text messages and secure links to simple portals, Nyfty takes the pain out of Site Registration at the same time as completing the Daily Log and recording attendance in Procore.

Attendance Bot can also trigger our other bots, so you can completely automate job site safety. Check out just some of the things our other little Bots can help you out with:

The best ideas come from real life collaboration

When Nyfty was one of only six start-ups chosen to participate in Suffolk Boost 2021, we knew good things would eventuate from this awesome program. And those good things are now starting to come to fruition.

As part of Boost, the team at Suffolk ran some Pilots using the Nyfty Bots. We received some amazing feedback and some great feature requests, including the request for Foremen to have responsibility for their own worker's data. We wanted to make sure this feature would not just be a feature but indeed an enhancement for both Foremen and GC's, so we came up with the Self-Management option.

Parter Self Management Portal - Data Export

We've had so much good feedback from sites that have activated this new feature. Foremen are loving it because they have more tools to manage their own crews on site and to manage what is reported to the GCs about their crews. GCs are loving it because they are seeing instant improvements in the accuracy of their Daily Construction Reports, Attendance reports and Daily Logs. This is simply because the Foreman can see what is actually happening on site and amend any anomalies between this and what workers have reported.
